I have been waiting for this 4th book in the Cat Rising Series, for nearly 5 years, and I'm glad to say it wasn't a waste of a wait. This may be my favorite of all the Series, so far. It takes place ten years after Babies, Bikes, and Broads. Everybody is older, but not necessarily wiser. Aside from getting older, Cat has not changed as much as the rest. Lily & Hannah are in crisis, the cute kids from the previous books are now teenagers, and have taken over the story in ways I can see us, readers, getting swept up into the next generation of Hoods & Camerons. All the things I love about Chadwick's writing lush scenery, vivid story, realistic characters, and her knack for dialog are stronger than ever, here in Cutting Loose. She leaves us with a real cliff-hanger, and so I am hopeful the wait for #5 is a lot shorter than it was for Cutting Loose!
I love this series wish there was more books written in them. I miss Cat hood and her friends and family.
I've been a fan of the author for a long time and I was very patient waiting for this latest installment in the Cat Hood saga. The story did not disappoint. Picking up with Cat, Lilly and the gang of characters was fun and I wanted more. I wanted to know what set Hannah off and what Janey had been doing while over in Italy. But those missing details, and a few others, don't really distract from the story. While Cat seems to be slowing down a bit the younger characters step up and become the focus of the story. They are intriguing and I'm looking forward to seeing how things go for McKay, Stryker and Rosie.
In all fairness I have to add that there were distractions in the story that were caused by poor editing. There is a new character named Emma who has a partner that is referred to as both Liza and Lisa. Missing quote marks and a couple of spots where you just know there was a word that shouldn't have been there. If you can overlook those glitches you'll enjoy the story completely.
From me the story is worth five stars but the poor editing brings it down and makes it not quite worth the cost of the book.
I have loved the series of books about Cat and her friends, and in Cutting Loose everyone is older, but not necessarily wiser. Surprising changes in some characters as the book progressed. Catch up with everyone from the last book Babies, bikes and broads.
